Chapter Eight

I wake to Adam's light snoring. Sun shines through the curtains, hurting my eyes as I try to get my bearings. My head is killing me. I look at the bedside table and see a glass of water with some aspirin. As I reach for them I see a note.

Drink the whole glass and join me for breakfast.

D.

Right, we went to Dorian's last night. I take the aspirin and drink the glass of water. When I look down at Adam, his eyes are barely opening.

“Hey,” I say softly. “Good morning.”

I lean down and give him a kiss. I remember everything. I can't say that I'm surprised at myself. Sure, I've never done it like that before. It's not exactly how I envisioned my first time with Adam, but I can't change it now. It's not like Adam seemed to—

“What the hell happened?” he asks, sending my heart to the pit of my stomach.

“You… don't remember?” I ask and he nods.

“I remember, but…” he quickly gets out of bed and races around the room grabbing his clothes.

“Adam, what's wrong?” I'm unsure of how to handle his reaction.

“We just had a threesome with Dorian,” he says as if to remind me. “Perfect way to start a new relationship.”

“Okay.” I understand where he's coming from. “But it happened.”

“Yeah and you let it happen!” he spits, getting red in the face. “You were okay with it.”

“So were you.”

“I know,” he whispers, putting his jeans on.

“Everything, alright?” Dorian asks, leaning against the door frame.

“No, it's not!” Adam responds angrily, pulling his shirt on.

“Adam, let's all be adults and discuss this at breakfast.” Dorian attempts to soothe him, tucking his hair behind his ears.

“At breakfast?! You really expect me to sit down and be calm?!”

“No.” Dorian shrugs. “I was hoping for that rare chance seeing how lucky I've been here lately.”

“Too lucky!” Adam retorts.

“Your turn,” Dorian retorts with a huff. He crosses his arms haughtily and leaves me and Adam alone.

“Adam, come on,” I pull on his arm. “He's right. We should be able to sit down and talk about this like adults.”

“I know,” he sighs. “I'm just so confused. Last night…”

“It was confusing. We can figure it out. Together.”

“I don't want to hurt anyone.” I can see the fear in his eyes.

“You won't,” I reassure him. “I'm not stupid, Adam. I know you still feel something for Dorian by the way you look at him, but I know I'm in there too.”

His eyes widen in surprise, but he nods his head.

“Let's go sit and have breakfast,” I tell him, lacing our fingers together. “We talk with Dorian and get this figured out, okay?”

He sighs and I pull us to our feet.

“I'm going to get dressed.” I kiss his cheek. “You go and see about food.”

He leaves the room and I hurriedly get dressed. When I walk into the dining area, Adam has a plate of food waiting for me.

“Thank you.” He simply nods.

“Okay!” Dorian says, folding his newspaper with a flourish and rising from the day bed.
